Getting Inky!

Hi Crafters,

At a recent paper-crafting event I purchased this gorgeous 'WOW' background stamp and couldn't wait to create two cards following the demo I watched there.

Recipe (both cards)
Background Stamp - Secret Garden by WOW Stamps for Embossing
Black Embossing Powder
Distress Inks
Cheery Lynn Fronds Die
Sentiment Stamps - LOTV

Challenges I'd like to enter:
Fab n Funky - #313 Add a Sentiment
Crafty Creations - #319 CAS

It's a lovely sized stamp and makes a great impression. I have lots of ideas rolling around in my head for other uses too - now to find the time to fit it all in!

A is for Angler

Hi Crafters,

I've been getting inky over the Easter weekend and this is what I've created using my Distress Inks and a variety of stamps.

Recipe
Distress Inks for the background
Versamark Onyx Black Ink foreground Stamping
Memento Green Inks
Woodware Angler Stamp and Sentiment
Various Sheena Douglas Stamps
Lavinia Stamps
Marianne Corner Die LR0143

I created the background by tearing a piece of paper and using the jagged edge with my inks for the mountains and water. The clouds were inked using another piece of card that I had cut to shape. Then it was just a case of over stamping the foliage and Angler image. I'm quite pleased at how this turned out.

Challenges I'd like to enter:
Cardz 4 Guyz - #113 Something Beginning with 'A' (Angler)
Unicorn Challenge - #7 Clean & Simple
One Crazy Stamper - March ATG

A lovely day in Norfolk today, cool and windy but the sun is shining beautifully. It certainly makes me feel happier - plus I have managed to get three lines of washing dry and that somehow makes me even happier - sad house wife I guess :/

Hope you are having a great day too.

An ATC Inspired Card

Hi Crafters,

Whilst making my latest set of atc's for the swap group over at Jo's blog I had one left over so decided to make it in to a card.

Recipe
Stamp - Personal Impressions - Butterfly Flowers
Archival Brown Ink embossed with clear EP
Inking and colouring of image - Distress Inks
Britannia Die - Happy Birthday Die Cut
Stampin' Up Modern Mosaic Embossing Folder for Background

The background was created by embossing with the EF and then inking gently over the raised parts with Vintage Photo DI and then clear embossing powder added to define the pattern.
The image itself was stamped and heat embossed then I coloured the butterflies and flowers with Distress Ink markers. All matted and layered on to brown and gold card.

Challenges I'd like to enter:
One Crazy Stamper - Feb. ATG
Bunny Zoe's Crafts - Things With Wings
Butterfly Challenge - #48 Butterflies + S is for Stamping

Well folks, what a mixed bag of weather we've had today. Woke up to a very sharp frost this morning but then the sun came out and it was glorious although still very cold. Mid morning we had sleet and rain a little bit more sun and this afternoon we've had hail and snow flurries. I wonder what tomorrow will bring?
Hope you are all fine and warm.

Getting Inky

Hi Crafters,
I decided it was time to get my Distress inks out and here is one of the cards that I created. Now that my hands are multiple shades of green and brown I think I'd better invest in some plastic gloves :/

Recipe
Image - Sheena Douglas Stamp - The Majestic Oak
Birds - Inkylicious Stamp Set
Sentiment - Woodware Stamp - Kim's Coppice
Distres Inks - Black Soot, Vintage Photo, Peeled Paint, Mustard Seed.
Wood Grain Embossing Folder
EK Success Corner Punch

I started by stamping the tree and birds and heat embossing them with black EP, masking the moon with a circle of paper and then layering up my inks. I used a wood grain embossing folder for the background panel and stamped and embossed my sentiments. Then it was a simple case of matting and layering to finish.

Challenges I'd like to enter:
Cardz 4 Guyz - #73 Birds (if the birds here are too small for the challenge then please delete my entry)
TTCRD - ATG
Brown Sugar - #49 ATG
Sister Act - #109 ATG
Creative Fingers - #82 ATG

Please join me again tomorrow for my Christmas Card Club make, see you then,

Christmas Card Club Challenge # 8 - Vintage

Hi Crafters,
I'm back today to share my card for the Christmas Card Club Challenge. The theme this fortnight was chosen by our lovely Rachel, she has given us the challenge to make a 'vintage' Christmas Card. I know that vintage doesn't necessarily mean distressing but I fancied another go at distressing the edges of my card and DP's. It's quite subtle but I enjoyed doing it and felt it added to the look.

Recipe
Image - Stampendous Christmas Cottage Stamp
Coloured with Distress Inks (get me!)
Go Kreate Oval Dies
Go Kreate Large Frilly Frames #10 Dies
Kraft Card
DP's - Magazine freebies
Cheery Lynn Snowflakes Die
Lea'billities Pine Branches Die
Sentiment - Crafters Companion
Dovecraft brown doily
Anna Marie Designs festive berries
Lace - Crafty Ribbons
Button Cabochon
Gold Pearls

Like the distressed edges, colouring my image with Distress Inks is something I don't normally do. I love my Promarkers but they didn't seem right for the look I was after. I struggled a bit to begin with, I'm not happy with the watercolour paper I have, it is very textured and I found it difficult to move the ink around, but as I only use it once in a blue moon I don't think I will bother to get any more. For the snow drifts I brushed on some frosted lace stickles for a thin sparkly layer but I don't think you can see it very well in the photo. The pine leaves were given a coating of white embossing powder for their snowy look and there is a subtle touch of glitter around the oval and snowflakes but as it was meant to be vintage I didn't over do it.
Here is a side on view to show the layers:

The other ladies in our group will also have their beautiful projects on their blogs today so if you would like some inspiration to make a start on your own Christmas cards then why not give them a look, you can find the links in the page tab at the top of my blog.

Playing with my Distress Inks

Hi Crafters,
I've been playing with my Distress inks and some fairy stamps today and this is what I have made.

Recipe
Distress Inks - Tumbled Glass, Chipped Sapphire, Dusty Concorde and Black Soot.
Black Archival Ink and Clear embossing powder
Brilliance Ink - Platinum Planet
Lavinia Stamps - Fairy, mushrooms, spiral sentiment and verse
Magazine Freebie Stamp - Butterfly swirl and flourish
Glamour Dust

I began by inking my cardstock and spritzing with water, then when dry I stamped the images embossing each one as I went. The silver spiral sentiment doesn't appear to show up in the photo's very well but in real life it does. I just matted the finished piece on to silver mirri and then black cardstock to frame it.
Challenges
Lavinia Stamps - #2 Bright and Beautiful
TTCRD - ATG
Sister Act - #93 ATG
Creative Fingers - #67 ATG

I'd like to say a warm welcome to my new followers both on Google and Bloglovin, it's lovely to have you here and I hope you enjoy what you see.
It's busy, busy, busy for me today I have some DT work to do and a few orders to complete and then I shall fit in some commenting along the way. Have a great day one and all!
