Art Journal Covers

 Hi Crafters,

I have been wanting to make an Art Journal for a long time but never had the courage to start one. Although I have been creating ATC's for a couple of years and swapping them an art journal seemed a big step up in scale and quite daunting. This weekend I took the plunge and after doing the rounds with You Tube videos, blog posts and Facebook groups I created a front and back cover to fit my A5 journal.

Front cover

Back cover

I started with a thick watercolour paper, gesso and scrunched tissue paper, I struggled with the order of the layers and so although there are some strips of music paper in there you can't see them as I unfortunately covered them over when painting. :/  I used several stencils, texture paste and stamps, alcohol inks and watercolour paints to create my background.

I had a set of napkins with these gorgeous large flowers on them so used that to make my focal point. The mistake came when I tried to add the bumble bee to the flower on the front cover which caused the layers of tissue paper to scrunch up and try as I might I could not flatten them again. So off they came and I decided to paint over the flower petals but actually I really like the texture that gave and am pleased how it turned out for my first attempt.

I'm hoping to be able to regularly fill the pages of my journal with more art work and I'm looking forward to challenging myself.

Challenges I'd like to enter:

Try It On Tuesday - Uplifting or Positive Quote

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Layer It Up

Christmas Card Club Challenge #2 Nativity

 Hi Crafters,

We had a little scattering of snow yesterday in this neck of the woods, it looked very pretty from the window but I'm glad that I didn't have to venture out in it. I'm looking forward to the Spring now when we can hopefully start to bring back some of our normal routines, Covid permitting of course.

Well it was Margaret's turn to choose a theme this week and she has given us

NATIVITY

I have three cards this time, two from the Hunkydory 'Miracles of Christmas' collection and a stamped one using a Spellbinders set of stamps that I've had for a long time but never used so this is it's first outing. The paper is from 'Snowy Daze' paper pad from The Works.

I've kept them all flat for posting. Last year I noticed that most of my customers were posting their cards and not delivering by hand.

Challenges I'd like to enter:

CHNC Every Saturday - #525 ATG Christmas / Use a Sentiment

Aud Sentiments - #266 ATG + A Sentiment

Fezziwigs Festive Frolics - Anything Festive

I hope your Sunday is going well so far, thank you for visiting and I'll see you again soon.

Exciting News!

 Hi Crafters,

A Happy & Healthy New Year to you all.

Here's the post with a full explanation of the changes starting from January 5th at Passion For Promarkers...

"Good morning crafty friends, and a very Happy New Year to you!  We hope that 2021 brings us all a better and brighter year and things can start to get back to some sort of ‘normal’.  Crafting kept us sane in 2020 and I’m sure it will continue to give us hope and stability again this year.

We are interrupting you this morning with some exciting news regarding our challenge blog.  We have decided from the first challenge on 5th January 2021 we will be opening our challenges to ALL types of markers.  We of course still love our promarkers but we have to move with the times and we know lots of crafters love their Copics, Spectrum Noirs, Zig markers, Karin markers and lots more so whatever type of marker you use you will be welcome at our challenges from January 2021.

To make our challenge more visible we are going to update and refresh our name to ‘Passion for Markers’ and will have a new blog header and badges which are amazing and designed by our very own design team member Lisa M.  We can’t wait for you to see them.  Nothing else will change, the challenges will still be every Tuesday morning at 9am, the design team will continue to make amazing creations to inspire you each week, our generous sponsors are still supporting our challenges with their fantastic prizes and we will remain a friendly, happy part of blogland to brighten your world each week.

We hope you will continue to support our challenges as you did in 2020.  We want to spread the word of the changes to our challenge so we would love it if you pop over to Facebook and share this post.  As a thank you we will be putting all the names of everyone who shares the post into a hat and the lucky winner will win a £10 voucher to whichever craft store they wish (or if you prefer a 10€ or $10 to a craft store in Europe/US).  You must share the original post on the Passion for Promarkers Facebook page (this will change to Passion for Markers very soon).

Don’t forget you still have a few more days to enter our Mega Christmas challenge with a chance to win one of the awesome prizes we have up for grabs so please use the linky here (only 3 entries per person please and only promarkers allowed for this last challenge).

Stay safe and here’s to a brand new year at PFM!"

See you there soon,

Lorraine
