Crafters Companion - Barkley

Hi Crafters,

What happened to yesterday?
I meant to post this yesterday but the time just got away from me, so here it is - one of my latest Christmas cards.
This is Barkley and Friends, a Christmas pre-coloured digi from a decoupage sheet and a great shaped card that I purchased from the NEC recently. I tried out my new snowflake die from Joy and glittered it up with Cosmic Shimmer Aurora Crystal Sparkle embossing powder, I've used this a lot lately, I love it. The sentiment is from a Dreamees set of stamps. Sorry the lighting is rubbish.
Here is a closer view...
... you can just make out the layers of decoupage.
And a nice close up of the snowflake and embossing.
As you can see Father Christmas really needs to bring me a new camera and a light box, I've been very good, promise. We will have to see, it could just be the photographer lol.

I'd like to enter this in to the following challenges:

Papertake Weekly - Christmas Creatures
Country View Crafts - Bah-Humbug
Bearly Mine Challenge - Sketch #116
Through The Craft Room Door - Anything Goes
Winter Wonderland - Embossing (Dry & Heat)
A Creative Romance - Sparkle at Christmas
Scribble & Scrap - Challenge #7 Anything Goes

Thanks for visiting, I really appreciate your comments and try to visit all your blogs too. I always look at your work even if I don't have time to comment.
The glitter is calling, must dash,

Art Impressions

Hi, today I have a card to share with you using an Art Impressions stamp which I haven't used until now, it was just perfect for this card and the recipient will appreciate the humour in it. It's a long story but suffice to say this particular lady and the swimming pool have a history :)

I used my Promarkers again and some lovely papers from My Minds Eye Blush paper pad. The bubbles are a Memory Box die and the sentiments are created on my computer. I had some issues with the vivid pink Promarker seeping over the outline so I decided to cut the image out and glue it to the mount instead, it worked out ok I think.
I'd like to enter this in to the challenge at:
Scribble & Scrap - #6 Anything Goes

Well it's getting late now, hope you've all had a great day,
See you soon,
Lorraine

Die-cut Decoupage

Hi Crafters,
Hope you are enjoying your weekend, the weather has been very dull and dreary here today but I've been in my craft room with my head down, busy creating so I haven't been too bothered with the weather.
I decided to use a die-cut decoupage sheet that I've had in my stash for a while as the recipient for this commissioned card, (Sheila) loves her garden and the wildlife within it.
So this one seemed appropriate.

I used some papers from the 'First Edition' paper pad 'Bird Song' they are very pretty and complemented the colours in the decoupage. I also edged the layers with some pink 'Art Glitter. The words and letters of her name were cut out using dies that I bought on my recent trip to the NEC. Shhh don't tell hubby but I haven't found room to put away all the lovely things I got yet, they're still in the carrier bags, lol. I got rather carried away by all the lovely stalls, and armed with my birthday money I went from stall to wonderful stall collecting all the things I needed and, I'm afraid, more besides.
Here's a close up view of those lovely birds,

Mmmm, albeit a tad blurred, blast that camera :(

I'd like to enter this card in to the following challenges:

Through The Craft Room Door - Anything Goes
Scribble & Scrap - Anything Goes

Thanks for stopping by,
Lorraine

Birthday Wish

Hello again, what a change it is to wake up to sunshine.
Today I'm going to share with you a Birthday card that I have made for my Hubby's birthday which is in a couple of weeks time. (It's ok, he doesn't read my blog). He rather likes steam engines whether large or small as in this great Mo Manning image The Engineer. I had seen this image a long time ago and purchased it with the idea of this card. A bit of dry embossing, inking, some promarkers and embellishments and here it is......

I hope he likes it, in fact apart from the moustache this could be him, lol, don't tell him I said so :)

I'm entering in to the following challenges:
Scribble & Scrap - Anything Goes
A Creative Romance - Add Metal
Through The Craftroom Door - Anything Goes
Crafty Little Fairies - Anything Goes
Papertake Weekly - Sketchie Free For All #55 (flipped)

Have a great day crafty pals,
See you soon

Pretty In Pink.....

.....that's the name of the challenge over on Crafty Little Fairies blog this week and I'd like to show you my card.

This was another commissioned card and I do love the filigree die cut shapes produced by the Spellbinders Elegant Labels 4 die that I used. The papers come from an old Papermania pad called Henbury Lane that I had in my stash. Quite a simple card with lots of layers, I think it turned out well. I would also like to enter this in the following challenges.
Bearly Mine Challenges - Anything Goes
Through the Craftroom Door - Anything Goes
Scribble and Scrap - Anything Goes

We are having such a wet week that I think winter has arrived with a vengeance here in Norfolk, I hate the rain I find it very depressing so am trying to cheer myself up by creating bright and cheerful cards. I have also had a look at quite a few of your blogs this week and there are a lot of very talented ladies out there who I admire. I have a lot of practicing to do if I am to reach their standard :D.  With that said I feel another practice session coming on, so bye for now,
Try to stay dry, lol,

Happy Birthday to a Wonderful Friend !

I'd like to share with you a birthday card that I made for a good friend of mine. She loves her holidays and so when I saw this card on a blog the other day I just had to purchase the image from Mo's Digital Pencil and create my card. I used the original card layout for inspiration and changed a few things to make it appropriate for my friend.

The two digi's can be found here and here.
I coloured both the background and sunbather with Promarkers, cut her out and stuck her on to the background and put shading around the edge of the towel to ground the image. I used polka dot papers and buttons to carry on the theme of her bikini. In my stash I had a starfish charm and a small pair of silver coloured sunglasses which went beautifully with the beach theme also. Here is a close up of her enjoying her cocktail...

I'd like to enter this card in to these challenges:
Mo's Digital Pencil - 'H is for'........ Hot
Papertake Weekly - Anything Goes

I love Mo's images, I have quite a few now, they are so easy to colour and uncanny in that they resemble someone you know, lol.

Thanks for joining me today,

See you all soon,

Lorraine

World Card Making Day

Hi Crafters !

As it is World Card Making Day I had better show you all a card, hadn't I. Although I haven't been posting on my blog this week, I haven't been idle either. I have now caught up with all the blogs that I follow and seen some beautiful creations from you all, left a few comments and made a few cards of my own. I have had a lot of commissioned cards to catch up with and here's a peek at some of them now...

.... I'd like to enter this card in to the Through The Craftroom Door Challenge - Anything Goes.
and Papertake Weekly Challenge - Anything Goes.

The young lad who asked for this card was very specific about what he wanted on it, these were all the things his mummy loved so I was pleased he liked it.

And finally I would like to enter this creation into the Challenge over on In the Pink - their challenge theme this time is Luscious Lace.

Hope you've had a great day,

See you soon,

Lorraine

M.I.A.

Phew where has this week gone?...
Sorry I've been missing in action this week, it's been very hectic in our household. I've also been beavering away in my craftroom trying to make lots of things for a stall at a Macmillan Coffee Morning that I have been kindly asked to attend. The only thing was that it was very short notice and I did not have many items to sell. So many hours later, I now have Christmas tags, packs of cards, a few items of handmade jewellery, notebooks etc to take next week. I will show a picture soon of my table set out.
For now though, I would like to enter this card in two challenges:
Through The Craft Room Door - Anything Goes
Papertake Weekly Challenge - Make It Sparkle

Firstly, I die-cut the reindeer and tree line and then heat embossed them with black and white embossing powder. the starry night background was inked using Distress Inks -Stormy Sky and Chipped Sapphire. I had already dry embossed the cardstock with a snowfall embossing folder so I then high-lighted each 'bump' with stickles. the moon was punched out of pearlescent card and two snowflakes added to the corner.
Hope you like.

See you soon

Clearly Besotted Challenge

Hi Crafters,

Today I am entering in to a challenge over on Clearly Besotted Stamps. The rules include stamping your own background and as I've just received my first order of these lovely stamps and dies I decided to make a baby card....

I used two of the stamps to create my background, matted and layered on to glitter and plain cardstock then stamped and die cut the pram, bottle and dummy. I tried some shadow stamping too on these elements. I finished the card off with a large yellow bow and used the die cut safety pin to add interest. Here's a close up....

The dies cut perfectly and released the cardstock with no trouble, I was very pleased with my purchase and will definitely make another visit to the shop soon.
Maybe the bright yellow of this card will cheer us all up as we seem to have entered winter already.
The weather today here in East Anglia is cold, windy, overcast and decidedly dreary, somehow we have leapt from August to November over the last couple of days.

See you soon

Got The Blues

Hello Crafters....
....I haven't really got the blues, it's just that for two days in a row I have somehow been drawn to make blue cards and I never use that colour normally. I was asked to make a card for a lady whose birthday is coming up soon and her favourite colour is.....blue.
Here it is....

The layout of this card was inspired by an example I found on Pinterest (bad place, I spend far too much time looking at stuff, lol.) I'll put a link to her boards, she makes some wonderful cards. Paperpastimes .

I used:

Couture Creations embossing folder-Tied Together
Spellbinders Dies- Splendid Circles, Classic Circles, Fancy Lattice and Nested Pennants
Die-namics Die- Fancy Flourish
Flowers- Wild Orchid Crafts
Pearls- Woodware pearl border
Sentiment- Waltzingmouse Stamps

I'm going to enter this for the Papertake Weekly Challenge . 'Flower Power' . This will be my second entry but I'm sure you are allowed up to five. So fingers crossed coz the sponsor this time is The Ribbon Girl and I would really love to choose some goodies from there, great range in flowers, ribbons and trim.

Well, the family are hungry again I can hear their stomachs from here, lol, crafting hat off and cooking hat on.

See you soon,

Lorraine

Flower Power

Goodness! It's a whole week since I last blogged, where does the time go?
I've been really busy with family this week so crafting time has been limited. I have still managed to look at all your blogs though, and there have been some stunning cards from you all to inspire me, so, here's what I came up with...

I thought I would try a different shape card this time, I seem to be stuck in a rut of just grabbing an A5 card blank so it's time to change it up a bit. I looked around the internet and found this centre step card fold, so here it is....

I also gave myself a bit of a challenge to use the colour 'blue'. It's one colour I tend to avoid using, I think it turned out ok, don't you?
I stamped the image and coloured it using my Promarkers and then gave the petals a coat of Glossy Accents. The oval mats are Spellbinders  Classic Ovals and Floral Ovals Dies. The rest of the card was made up of matted layers of patterned paper from Papermania and lots of silver peel-offs. Oh, and a blue ribbon bow.

Today I would like to enter my card into the Papertake Weekly Challenge - 'Flower Power'.
Take a visit to their page and check out all the creations there and maybe join in yourself, it's great fun.

Enjoy your day,

Lorraine

In The Pink - challenge

Good morning everyone, do you feel in the pink?
Well they do at In The Pink that's where I am entering this little pink beauty today for their 1st Birthday challenge.

The girl is a pre-coloured Kenny K, die-cut card topper from Hobby House . These are good to use if you are not very confident colouring images yourself or if you just want to make a quick card.
The papers are from a Papermania pad and my ever faithful Spellbinders dies and a few punches to finish it off.
Well I'm off to make a start on a 21st Birthday card now - lots of relatives hitting big birthdays, lol.

See you soon
