Sharing an 'Oldie' with Erika on Friday - Memory/Keepsake Box

Hi Crafters,

Friday has come around again and time to 'Share an Oldie' with Erika from Snappy Crafts.

I've been looking through an old memory card for a camera that I had a few years back and found these dated in 2012 - the photo's are rather grainy I'm afraid but you can still see them ok.

This was commissioned by a work colleague and she had asked for a large vintage looking box for her mother using blue and white to keep old photos and memorabilia inside.

I painted the box a gorgeous rich blue and lined it with patterned papers.
I can remember at the time that I had just purchased some crackle medium and welcomed the chance to use it on a project such as this. I was really pleased at how it turned out - after having a few practise goes on a scrap of card I took the plunge and covered the whole box with it.

I then set about creating the embellishments for the lid. The frame for the Tim Holtz quote stamp was made using a Spellbinders die and covering it with UTEE, thick embossing enamel, and sprinkling a little glitter on it whilst it was still wet. The flowers were from Wild Orchid Crafts and were arranged and adorned with charms, jewellery findings and pearl brads for the centres.
I also covered the chipboard letters with clear UTEE after painting them blue.

Hi Lorraine, wow what a super memory box, this is exactly why I love sharing an oldie. A super project, loving the colour combo, the sentiment is perfect, the floral display is beautiful and you can't beat a bit of crackle for texture!

Thanks for joining me today and have a super weekend, hugs Erika. x
