As You Like It Challenge # 71 - Paper or Non Paper Project and WHY

Hi Crafters,

Well, I'm lucky to be blogging today after the fiasco I have had with my new computer. I should have put a bet on as to whether it would work ok as I would have won, lol.
After spending quite some time with Hubby on Monday evening getting it up and running with a limited set of programmes and working fine I went to bed quite contented.
Tuesday morning I woke full of enthusiasm to tackle the task of setting up the rest of what I needed to function with my DT blogs and various programmes that I regularly use only to have it throw a wobbly and produce an error message before it had even booted up properly. I then spent the next four hours on the phone to tech. support (good job it was a free phone number) only to have him finally decide that it would be best to reset it to the factory settings.
Arrrgh!!
All my downloaded cut files for my Silhouette would be lost and I think that was the third and final time I could reload them to a new computer. Not to mention the stuff I lost when my old computer crashed. Do you think someone is trying to tell me something?
..and if I see another whirling wheel in the next week I think I will go over the edge.
All that keeps ringing in my ears is what my daughter said before it arrived,
"I don't know what you are stressing about, there is nothing to getting a new computer, you just take it out of the box, switch it on and it does it all for you".
What planet is she on?!

Anyhoo, rant over,
(I'm saying this with fingers crossed)
it is working fine now.

Now what was I here for? ahh yes - A Challenge!

The new challenge at As You Like It is to showcase a project using your Favourite of either a Paper or Non Paper Project. You MUST also explain WHY it is your favourite.

My favourite is Paper every time, I have tried knitting, crochet, flower pressing (a lot of years ago) and painting but I always come back to paper crafting for my crafty fix.
So here is my project...

Your fiasco is over I hope with the computer. Have you installed windows 10? That's were I had problems for a long time, lost all of my contacts etc. But the worse is our Silhouette files. Did you know you can actually save the files you have....I have done that after I got my new laptop and reinstalled the downloads again. Will have to refresh the brain how I did it but you can...

Now this on the other hand, is one gorgeous card. Love the colouring of the bear...too cute..
Crossing fingers and toes you are now trouble free and yes our kids seem to think every thing that's new out of a box is magical...xx

Well I feel the same way about my computer, can't live with it, can't throw it out the frigging window!! Sorry you've had so many problems, hope you work it out soon. HUGS :)

Oh Lorraine, what a time you're having with the PC. I must have been really lucky when we bought both of ours in that I really did plug in and off they went, but I guess you are trying to put various programmes on the like on yours. I had the problem when I upgraded to windows 10 and had to work out how to get the printer working. Hopefully you're there now and things will go smoothly.
Now your Bobbie Bear card is so sweet, lovely colours and design, Keep calm and keep crafting, Kate x

Oh I do feel for you! bet your sweating for a few days until it 'feels' right. It doesn't help when programs little Silhouette only allow so many start up!
even when you've paid for it.

Hi Lorraine,
I knew you would get stressed over this new computer.
As I had similar probs when I changed recently.
Felt like tearing my hair out sometimes.
Hope all is okay now.
I always back all my stuff up on a separate hard drive just in case.
Love your super card, and that very cutie image is coloured so perfectly too.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.

Oh, Lorraine, Bobby is adorable and so beautifully colored. It give of a vibe of calm which sounds like has been scarce for you lately. I'm so sorry about your computer stress. Hopefully it is all straight now. I have started putting all my images and cut files on a thumb drive in hopes of avoiding crisis in the future. I back up to a hard drive too, but honestly don't trust that for some reason. Anyway, I'm hoping to be a more frequent visitor now that the holidays are a wonderful memory. Thanks for your visits and lovely comments!

Hi Lorraine, I am laughing whilst typing, at the clipart at the bottom of your post. We've all wanted to do that at one time or another. I don't think your daughter must not use any of the fancy computer stuff us crafters like or she would understand your frustration. I hate it when things go wrong tech side, but guess usually it is frustration on my part as I only know what I need to know, if you get my drift!

A beautiful baby boy card, stunningly coloured with perfect colours and layering. I love it. So cute.

Have a super crafty weekend and hope you manage to get everything you want back on your computer.

Hugs Erika. x

Lorraine, this is a really gorgeous card. Your colouring is amazing - wonderful texture on that little cutie, and such a lovely card design too. I am so sorry about your computer woes...I am hopeless with anything technical. I am thinking of using an external hard drive though to save all my card making 'stuff' - just for when mine throws a wobbler...!

Oh no, it sounds like such a nightmare trying to get your tech sorted but I really hope it's all sorted now. I have been debating updating my laptop to Windows 10 but can't bring myself to do it as I fear it will break everything!

Your card is totally adorable; what a cute little bear and the pastel blue paper and ribbon look gorgeous :-)

Big hugs, Kat xx

I am crazy over the way you colored his fur. Too stinkin' cute!!! Gosh you've got me scared I just got a new puter too and haven't taken it out of the box yet. I knew it was going to take patience and time, neither of which I've had lately. LOL Hope you can get things sorted out.
