Christmas Card Club Challenge #10 - Village Scene

Hi Crafters,

Hope all of you are well.
I am here today because it is yet another challenge at our friendly Christmas Card Club - those two weeks have certainly flown by.
Our Rita has chosen the theme this time and a lovely one at that... Village Scene.
I decide to go with my all time favourite Christmas stamp from Stampendous - Snowy Postcard - as it has this beautiful snow covered house scene. I also decided to do something a little out of my comfort zone too. I have been admiring some mixed media projects on a couple of blogs that I follow and wanted to dip my toe in the water and have a go at a few of the techniques. On my card you will notice that I have had a go at using crackle medium, inking, distressing and generally grunging everything up. I have a long way to go to match the talents of Pamellia and Kathy but I enjoyed trying.

Recipe
Card base cut with Go Kreate Die
Snowy Postcard Stamp - Stampendous
Distress Inks - Walnut Stain, Vintage Photo, Fired Brick
White Acrylic Paint
Crackle Medium
Stampendous Shabby White Frantage
Marianne Tree Die
Lea'bilities Holly Leaf Die
Berries - The Ribbon Girl
Seam Binding
Vintage Lace
MME Brad and Sentiment Banner
Metal Bell

A couple of close-ups of the crackled tree and crinkled seam binding...

Challenges I'd like to enter:
Winter Wonderland - Oh Christmas Tree
Brown Sugar - #145 Layers
One Crazy Stamper - ATG
Country View Challenge - Simply Scenic
Crafty Time - #1 Anything New (Crackle Medium)
Christmas Cards All Year Round - Vintage
CHNC Extra - May Challenge
CHNC Every Saturday - #228 Vintage or Shabby Chic
Frilly And Funkie - Snap, Crackle, Crackle

Now that I have attempted to do a bit of 'messy' crafting I think, when time allows, that I will create another project soon using my long neglected glimmer mists and sprays and finish up that pot of texture paste and stencils that have been languishing in the box on the shelf. I bought these items with the idea to use them straight away but found them rather daunting to know exactly what to so with them. We shall see how I get on.

Please pop along and have a look at the fabulous Christmas makes from the other members of the club by clicking the links in the tab at the top of my blog.
Well that's it from me today, hope you enjoy your Sunday.

Bye for now,

Lorraine

Oh my, you have done spectacular wonders with this fab stamp. I kept mine simple, but when I saw your treatment with it, ooooh! Love the framing behind the scene, it looks very glossy and really shows off the image. Also like that slightly turquoise look you have in the sky. Lovely embellies, and I'm so glad we both like this stamp! There's a wonderful SMS video showing how to add microfine glitter to the scene, which is what I intended, but got the sticky tape done wrong. I can send you the link if you're interested. I've got the companion train scene that was sold when this one came out. Well DONE! TFS & Hugs

OMGeeeee!!!!!
Lorraine I don't like many vintage/distressed creations because I think they're too brown, for my taste. But this is just as gorgeous as Mary's but in a totally different way!
I love the distressing, the snow, the crackle and the vintage embellishments - that is one corker of a card and I love it! It is, in my opinion, as good as Pamellia's cards, yes I stalk her too as she makes stunning projects which I love but can't replicate. I am on a self imposed ban of not buying any more or new Christmas stamps but I think that stamp may end up being purchased some time - beautiful and perfect for Rita's theme Karen x

So sorry I'm late in commenting. My Internet problems are consuming my life at the moment. To cap it all my iPad crashed this morning and took my IT specialist a talk through on the phone to get it working again. It's enough to drive you to drink. In fact sitting in the garden right now with a Pinot Grigio Blush. Very nice it is too. Anyway I digress. I don't think you need much teaching as this card is fabulous. Love everything about it. Colouring is super and those finishes are perfecto. Hugs Mrs A.
