Hi Crafters,
I'm sure that many of you, like me, have a stash of lace and trims in your craft room and when I was asked to create a Christening card recently and the brief was 'pretty and girly' I came up with this design.
Recipe
Crafters Companion Brick Embossing Folder and Arch Window Die
Tattered Lace Picot Edge Frame die
LOTV Sentiment Stamp
Pearls and lace from my stash
I set about making the dress by drawing half the shape on a folded piece of paper and cutting it out. When unfolded it makes the full dress shape, an easy way to ensure it is symmetrical. I used this template to cut out the dress in pearl card and embossed this to create the swirly pattern.
Then I added the layers of lace for the frills of the dress and trimmed the neck and sleeves with pearls.
The card turned out quite chunky so I had to make a box for it too.

I said I'd share some of my holiday photo's with you so here are a few of Portmeirion which we visited, with it's brightly painted buildings.
We walked across the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct alongside the canal boats. It crosses the Dee Valley and is 38m high. I really don't like heights but held on to the rail tightly. :o/
This is the view looking back over the side after we'd walked across...
The holiday cottage where we stayed
...and after climbing the hill behind it this was our reward.
See you soon,
Lorraine

Love how you made this pretty Christening dress, Lorraine - definitely pretty and girly!
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoyed your holiday in 'my neck of the woods'...Llangollen is just 15 miles from us and where I do my weekly shop, as it's our nearest supermarket! The holiday cottage looks lovely and I have to say, Portmeirion is a wonderful place to visit - it makes you feel like you could be abroad...especially on a nice day! We are truly blessed to live in such beautiful countryside (although it can be a logistical nightmare, especially in the winter and you wouldn't want to get anywhere in a hurry!) but sometimes we take it for granted, so it's nice to see that someone else has enjoyed it's beauty!
Thank you so much for the lovely comment you left on my blog too! Hugs, Lisa x
