As You Like It Challenge # 65 Brights or Pastels and WHY

Hi Crafters,

Another fortnight has passed by and we have a new challenge at As You Like It this week.

We are sponsored by Sweet Pea Stamps and we would love you to create a project using your favourite 'Bright or Pastel' colours and then tell us why they are your favourites to qualify for the prize.

I really love bright and bold colours, especially the colour red, but I truly admire cards from my blogging friends that are created using pastels as I seem to have a problem working with these shades. I tend to deepen the tones while colouring them and end up with a not so pastel finish.

So, I have decided to challenge myself to make a pastel card...or two, and here is my first one.
This was so very hard to stop colouring before I ruined it but I think I've achieved what I set out to do.

Recipe
Stamp - Penny Black Rubber, 'You Are A Peach' by Mo Manning
Medium - Pro/flexmarkers
MFT Blueprints 14 die set
Jus-Cutz Nested Scalloped Square Die
SB Circle and Scalloped Circle Dies
Sentiment - Verve Stamp

Challenges I'd like to enter:
Penny Black & More - Warm Autumn Colours
The Ribbon Girl - Oct. Colour Challenge - Pastels
Lil' Patch of Crafty Friends - #20 ATG
TTCRD - ATG
Fab 'n' Funky - #278 Girls and Boys Come Out To Play
Creative Inspirations - #332 ATG

For more inspiration please visit the blog where all the DT members have created their wonderful projects for you and there you will find the details for the prize and challenge rules. Please remember to add the reason WHY you have a favourite between brights and pastels to qualify for the prize, thanks.

Well that's all from me today, hope to see you again soon,

Lorraine

Christmas Card Club Challenge #21 - C.A.S. Wreath

Hi Crafters,

I hope you are enjoying your Saturday morning and doing whatever makes you happy.

I'm posting my CCC card a day early as usual as I have another DT card for tomorrow. Our Karen has chosen 'CAS Wreaths' for the theme this time and I must admit I have not been looking forward to the CAS bit. I always struggle with the empty white space and can't quite leave it alone, thus ending up with a not so CAS card. But this is my entry so here goes...

Recipe
Wreath - Classic Christmas Stamp Set (magazine freebie)
DI Markers
Red Stickles
Penny Black Christmas Sentiment Stamp
Tri-boss Embossing Folder

In fact I think it turned out OK, so I made four of them...

Challenges I'd like to enter:
Creative Inspirations - Clean & Simple or Fussy & Fancy (CAS)
Addicted To CAS - #74 Sparkle (Stickles for Berries)

These are ideal for posting as they are completely flat. I think I will use this design again but in  non-traditional colours next time for a different look, what do you think?

Well that's all from me today, thanks for visiting and I hope you liked my Christmas cards.

See you soon,

Lorraine

Sharing an 'Oldie' on Friday

Hi Crafters,

It's been a busy week here and now it is Friday already! Time to join in with Erika at Snappy Crafts and share an old crafty project just for fun.

Today I have a decoupaged card using an image from CraftsUprint..

..love this fun image and sentiment.
There were several layers if I remember correctly and by the time I had cut them all out I was seeing double. It made for a very dimensional card so when I added the flat-backed toadstools at the bottom they didn't look out of place.

If you would like to join in with us and share a crafty make from the past then post your creation on your blog, give Erika a visit and let her know you have taken part.

I will be back tomorrow with my Christmas Card Club card...

..see you then

Altered Wooden Thermometer

Hi Crafters,

How are we all today? Good I hope and managing to get plenty of crafting done?

I have something different to share with you today...it's not a card this time.

I've been altering this wooden thermometer that I've had in my stash for quite a while as a gift for a friend and as she's received it now then I can share.

It's meant to hang on the wall but I had to prop it up for the photo here so the lace trim should be hanging down and not flat on the table.

I painted it first with acrylic paint and then covered most of that up :/ with wood grain paper. Then I stamped a 'Kanban' rose stamp and adhered lots of 'Wild Orchid Craft' flowers and leaves along one side. I used this gorgeous Guipure lace along the roof line with the marvellous dark brown tassel trimming on top and then a layer of pearl lace trim from 'The Ribbon Girl'. I then repeated this layering along the bottom too. It was created to match the recipients colours and décor in their room.

Challenges I'd like to enter:
Not Just Cards - #25 ATG
Country View Crafts - Add Some Texture

Thanks for stopping by today and for all your lovely comments recently, they are so uplifting and encouraging, thank you.

Guest Designer at Quirky Crafts

Hi Crafters,

I was lucky enough to win a recent challenge at the Quirky Crafts challenge blog and I was asked to join in this week as Guest Designer - thank you Cazzy.

The challenge theme this fortnight is 'For The Quirky Girls' and as an added challenge you must only use two colours apart from skin and hair colour.

I hope I've met the requirements with this red and green card although I have some white in there too.

Meet 'Missy' she is a fabulous digital image from Jiggery Makery on Etsy.
She is coloured with my Letraset Pro/flexmarkers and I have added a sprinkling of glitter strands to the edges of her dress and hat.

I've used core'dinations card stock with a Sue Wilson embossing folder - Swirling Holly and a Cuttlebug folder for the dotty snow background.

My sentiments are Britannia Christmas Word Dies and Clearly Besotted 'Husband' word stamp and die from the 'My Hero' sets.

...and lastly a Tonic 'Festive Gift' die which I have backed with coloured card.

She's a bit saucy isn't she? but I love her.

Sharing an 'Oldie' on Friday

Hi Crafters,

I haven't joined in with Erika at Snappy Crafts for a few weeks now so thought I had better find an old craft project to share today and join in the fun.

This was a sweet little Christmas Gift Box that I made a few years ago when I first owned my Silhouette Cameo cutting machine. It was to gift wrap some earrings and looked so cute being only 10 cm x 7 cm. The organza bow is the closure and passes through the layers of the flap securing it tightly shut.

It has been a lovely, bright day here but quite chilly and I'm sure the heating will have to on this evening, {groan} winter is on it's way, but we are forecast a few more brighter days this weekend so I will make the most of it.
Hope everyone is ok and I'll see you again soon.

The leafy stamp was inked with the Peeled Paint too. I then applied Versamark clear ink around the edges and glitter embossing powder.
